Cast your mind back a few weeks…

Bath City had lost to Slough Town. As a result, I devised an (imaginary) award, called The Roman Chalice.

Not sure what the heck I am on about? Read this.

Caught up now? Good.

Last night, Slough lost to Chippenham Town in the FA Cup. Therefore, not only losing their place in the Cup, but surrendering the highly sought-after trophy.

Congratulations Chippenham! The new holders of The Roman Chalice.

On Saturday, Bath City played Slough Town in the league. City lost to two late goals.

The purpose of this post is not to write a poor match report, for a game I didn’t even attend.

There is a far greater motive behind today’s blog. It is to present Slough Town Football Club with an award.

Introducing The Roman Chalice.

The Roman Chalice. Named in honour of Bath City Football Club and not our pet bunny, Roman (who, incidentally, was named after the football team).

Having beaten The Romans at the weekend, Slough are now the (presumably) proud holders of this prestige award, which historians believe dates back all the way to the year 2019. 26th August, to be precise.

There is a catch. To retain The Roman Chalice, Slough must remain unbeaten for the rest of the season. Should they lose, Slough must relinquish the Chalice, handing it to their victors.

Any new holder will have to follow the same rules as their predecessor, meaning that if they get beat, the Chalice moves on.

Come the end of the season, whatever team is left with The Roman Chalice is the winner. Their prize – respect from me. Pretty crap. They don’t even get to keep The Chalice – the main reason for this, is because it doesn’t physically exist!

The Roman Chalice could be moving on sooner than everyone thinks! Slough Town travel to Dulwich Hamlet today. Should Slough lose, The Chalice will be heading to South London. What a time to be alive!

  • About Me

So you stumbled across my blog. No doubt after searching for something bizarre on Google. Before you hit that 'Back Button', why not stay and have a read for a few minutes?

If you are after a website which gives advice on how to hack an iPhone X, download the latest Steven Seagal movie, or view nudy ladies, you've come to the wrong place and may now press 'Back'.

However, if you would like a lifestyle blog, written by a 30-something chap, living in Bath (England), feast your eyes on this.

You won't discover how to copy PlayStation 4 games. What you will find is a blog, covering life in the West Country, the highs and lows of supporting two unsuccessful football teams, while sharing a house with a wife and rabbit.

All written by a man, somewhere on the sanity-scale between normal and eccentric.
