… yes, I know it’s only January. However, if shops can sell these, I can blog about them.

It’s a good thing I was well prepared for the snow. This is what the blizzard brought to Bath last night.

It’s meant to snow tomorrow. Cue madness as the entire country grinds to a halt and fails to cope with weather conditions which residents of Scotland would call a ‘bonnie summers day’…

The FA Trophy. For those not in the know, it’s a bit like The FA Cup for non-league teams. Granted, non-league teams can enter the FA Cup, but there is absolutely no chance they’ll get to the final. They simply don’t have the resources to compete with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and errr… Rochdale. The Trophy allows non-league teams to live a dream of reaching Wembley Stadium.

Despite taking part in the FA Trophy every year since its formation in in the late 1960’s, Bath City’s record in the competition has been abysmal to say the least. The furthest they have ever progressed is the quarter finals, and that was only once, 25 long years ago!

Since then there has been nothing positive for The Bath Chronicle to write about the Trophy at all. In recent years, The Romans have embarrassingly stumbled out of the competition during the very early stages, on many occasions to teams from lower divisions.

On Saturday, Bath City overcame The Raider to beat his beloved Wealdstone 3-1 and reach the last 16. There is still a long way to go – 3 rounds in fact – but in the distance, I think I can make out the Wembley Stadium arch.

This most recent victory, on the back of last month’s win at Bristol Rovers, has given me and many other Bath City supporters, optimism and cause to dream of some success in the Trophy at long last.

Bath City will learn their fate and who they have been drawn against in the next round, at midday today. Whoever is picked out of the bag for Bath City will make tough opposition, but the likes of Dover Athletic and Ebbsfleet United will be exceptionally annoying – not only would they be especially hard to beat, but would make for a boring, uninspiring match. The winner of FC United of Manchester and Chorley would do very nicely!

While passing McDonalds on a recent trip to Bath City, I noticed a sign advertising the return of the McRib burger. The burger is not a regular on the McDonalds menu, so whenever Claire and I do visit the fast food outlet, it is never available for me to buy. I vaguely remembering eating a McRib when I was at college, some 14-or-so years ago. My memories of the burger were that it was very good, so I was keen to try it again.

After pestering Claire, she agreed to stop off at McDonalds on the way home from Bath City’s away game at Wealdstone yesterday. It had been a long day, I was tired, cold and hungry. Therefore, the thought of a McRib, along with fries and tropical smoothie were most welcoming.

After the detour to McDonalds, we got home and I opened the cardboard box, containing the much-publicised pork delicacy. I was very disappointed. The burger was chewy and tasteless. The barbecue sauce I fondly remembered from my college days was greatly lacking flavour and quantity. The bun was also very plain. While I ate most of the burger, due to being hungry, the end of it was left for the binmen. Some poor piggy gave his life for my meal and it was wasted.

The McRib just goes to show that some things from your youth are not as good as you remembered. The same cannot be said for the SNES – AKA the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Since receiving one for Christmas, I have been reliving many a childhood memory, with the delights of Mario Kart, Super Street Fighter 2 and the Donkey Kong Country Trilogy.

In conclusion, retro burgers taste nasty and should be avoided. Retro games are still the dog’s crown jewels.

So you stumbled across my blog. No doubt after searching for something bizarre on Google. Before you hit that 'Back Button', why not stay and have a read for a few minutes?

If you are after a website which gives advice on how to hack an iPhone X, download the latest Steven Seagal movie, or view nudy ladies, you've come to the wrong place and may now press 'Back'.

However, if you would like a lifestyle blog, written by a 30-something chap, living in Bath (England), feast your eyes on this.

You won't discover how to copy PlayStation 4 games. What you will find is a blog, covering life in the West Country, the highs and lows of supporting two unsuccessful football teams, while sharing a house with a wife and rabbit.
