Beautiful weather today, it’s only March and was like a summers day. A lot of people would enjoy the weather by sitting in their gardens, going to the country or the parks. I on the other hand was asked to go with a couple of friends to the pub to watch the Ireland – Wales game in the egg chasing 6 Nations.

I don’t like rugby very much but I did think it was a good game. Disappointed by the result, I wanted Ireland to win. Nothing against Wales, but I like the Irish International football team, so why not the rugby one?

I didn’t stay for the England – Scotland match, I’d rather not watch the two worse sides in the competition – even though England is my home nation (sorry, I don’t like rugby much!)

6 Nations of Egg Chasing is nearly over

Next weekend is the start of the football internationals. England play Northern Ireland on Saturday and Azerbaijan on Wednesday in World Cup Qualifiers. Both should be easy games for England (how arrogant!) although they should watch out for Northern Ireland & Leeds United super striker David Healy! :o)

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. No excuses, I’ll just get on with blogging…

Leeds have just finished playing Millwall away. The game finished 1-1. A few months ago I would have been more than happy with this result, but based upon recent form and the way Leeds played in the second half, I am slightly disappointed Leeds didn’t win. Still, they’re now in 9th place and only 3 points off the play offs – C’mon!

The new Formula 1 season kicked off this weekend, the Australia Grand Prix being the first of the season. Giancarlo Fisichella won the Grand Prix, British driver David Coulthard came fourth and Jenston Button eleventh. Best of all though Michael SCUMacher, the cheat and F1’s answer to Manchester United had to retire after he spinned his car off the track! Hahahahaha!

On Friday I went to the cinema to see Robert DeNiro’s latest film Hide and Seek. This is a horror/thriller about a psychologist (DeNiro) who moves away from the city with his daughter after his wife kills herself. His daughter is disturbed by her mummies death and makes up a supposed imaginary friend called Charlie. Charlie causes havoc though and when people start to die you wonder who Charlie really is…

Are you talking to me? Are you talking… to ME?

As I have mentioned on this site before, I am a big fan of Robert DeNiro, he is my best actor of all time. Hide and Seek wasn’t his finest hour but that’s comparing him to Goodfellas, Taxi, Raging Bull, etc.

Finally next Friday it’s Comic Relief or Red Nose Day (whatever they call it nowadays). Like most years a charity record is released to make money for the cause. Boy band McFly have recorded All About You.

I’m not a fan of McFly or the single although I heard a brilliant parody of the song on the radio. It’s called He Doesn’t Use Shampoo. Check it out, it’s great, if you’re feeling generous you may want to buy a copy of the McFly single too. The CD can be used as a coaster, mirror, Frisbee or if you want to piss someone off can be played in a HiFi (just make sure you’re wearing a pair of ear plugs!)

I’m in a fucking brilliant mood this evening, absolutely over the moon! Regular visitors to this site won’t have to guess hard as to why I am so pleased. Yes, Leeds United won today, beating West Ham 2-1.

Take a look at The Championship table everybody, Leeds United are FOUR, yes FOUR points off a play off position.

This time last season Leeds were in a dire state, £100mill in debt, facing relegation with overpaid players who don’t give a shit. Now the finances have been stabilised, a whole new team has been built and the team tipped to fall into the lower divisions is on a serious fight for a return to the top flight.

Most of this is all down to the manager Kevin Blackwell. I know in the past I have criticised Blackie, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank Blackwell for all the work he has done for Leeds United Football Club. He has done a marvellous job against all odds.

Blackwell, you’re a genius, if you’re ever stuck for cash, why not write a book on football management, I have even designed a cover for your work. :o)

Anyway, moving on from the joys of Leeds United, I went to see The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou on Friday night. The film stars Bill Murray (from Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters to name a couple) amongst many other stars.

The film was certainly different from anything I have ever seen before. It follows world-famous oceanographer Steve Zissou on his quest to find the Jaguar Shark after it killed and ate his best friend.

Zissou is joined with his crew, wife, a pilot claiming to be his son, a heavily pregnant journalist and an accountant in the mission where they encounter pirates, rival oceanographer’s and other bizarre problems.

A top film and one I really recommend!

Lastly, it’s rugby again tomorrow. I should be watching the Ireland – England egg chasing game with a friend.

If I wasn’t being asked to watch England lose I would probably be watching The Carling Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool. The annoying thing is that both these fixtures are at EXACTLY the same time. Some morons at the Football & Rugby Associations are obviously not communicating!

No blog entries for yesterday, so quite a bit to cover today…

Firstly Super Leeds United beat Burnley yesterday, a very good result as Burnley have been doing great at home lately. In fact they haven’t conceded a goal in all competitions since playing Spurs in the Carling Cup – this run includes the FA Cup game to Liverpool which they won!

Leeds were the better team, but were still lucky to go away with all three points. Burnley were awarded a penalty late on but Super Neil Sullivan (the Leeds keeper) made the save to secure victory for The Mighty Whites.

Slowly but surly, Leeds are moving up the league

I watched a couple of televised games this afternoon. First up was Southampton against Everton. Southampton are in a real mess and are in a massive fight against relegation. Everton have been doing surprisingly well this season and are hoping to qualify for The Champions League.

After going ahead very early on, Everton shut off while Southampton kept up the pressure. It wasn’t long into the second half when Southampton were deservedly 2-1 up. They could have made it more and were by far the better team. Everton dealt Southampton a bitter blow however by equalising in the dying seconds.

I’ve nothing against Southampton as a team, but as a neutral supporter I would like to see them go down. It will make both The Premiership and The Championship more interesting and it’s always nice to see the teams promoted the previous season stay up.

The next game on Sky was Chelsea against Manchester City. Prior to this game, Chelsea were 8 points clear at the top of the table and were looking to make it 11. Man City are the only team so far to beat Chelsea in the league this season, repeating the same feat looked very unlikely. They didn’t manage to win, but City got a well earned point for the 0-0 draw at full time.

Now, this league winners situation is a difficult one for me. I hate Man Utd and really don’t want to see them win the league. I don’t really like Chelsea as if they win, I will think they have bought it instead of earning it. Ideally I would like to see Arsenal win, but after losing to Man Utd last week that looks very unlikely. Maybe Everton will overtake them all and claim the trophy – Hahahaha!

Still on the topic of sport a quick word on the rugby. A friend came over to watch the England – Wales game with me. I don’t know very much about rugby at all, but I knew England were playing shit and looked a totally different side to the one which won The World Cup back in 2003. It’s still early in the competition, but I can’t see England winning the 6 Nations – sadly.

England’s rugby hopes are breaking

Moving on from football and rugby, I was having MAJOR computer problems last night and this morning. It all started when I was watching a film on the PC, outputting to the TV when we had a power cut.

Once the power had been turned back on I booted up the PC. The screen resolution during boot up was all wrong, my friend and I were both a little confused as to what could have caused this.

I entered the BIOS and in a vain attempt to try and solve it turned the motherboard logo on at start up – big mistake. Firstly it didn’t solve the problem and I couldn’t get back into the BIOS to turn the logo off!

According to the onscreen prompts I should press TAB to enter the POST screen where I would then hit DEL to enter the BIOS. In typical computer fashion this didn’t go to plan and I couldn’t get into the damn POST screen.

After many attempts, including switching keyboards, I finally got in and turned the wretched logo off. I then realised what the problem was regarding the resolution. I could have kicked myself. The S-Video cable was still connected to the graphics card and the TV! Unplugging this resumed normal activity. Phew all sorted, or so I thought…

Got up the next morning, booted up the PC. No mouse activity! After much messing about uninstalling and re-installing hardware I found out that the mouse had a bent wire on the PS/2 connector.

Easily fixed and another lesson to learn “Computer problems are not always complicated – always look for the easiest solution first!” Had I followed that lesson this weekend, both problems would have been sorted in a matter of minutes.

I came very close to smashing up my PC!

Last but not least the tale of my works party I went to last night. I arrived soaking wet due to the rain. There were loads of people there, most of them I had never seen before in my life, which was surprising as it was supposed to be for my department!

It wasn’t a bad evening, I took a friend with me to keep me sane and the few work colleagues I did know kept me amused.

I did get a little embarrassed that evening – no I didn’t get drunk or get off with some ugly woman in the toilets. While getting up to leave, I was dragged onto the dance floor by a colleague. Her grip was strong and my attempts to get away were useless. I was left to do a pathetic side step/dance to Red Red Wine by UB40 before running out of the Social Club to the safety of the hospital grounds.

I’ve got a busy weekend coming up…

Firstly I’m out to friends this evening for another regular session of the N64 classic GoldenEye.

Then tomorrow lunchtime Super Leeds United take on Burnley. While I won’t be at the game tomorrow I will be listening on over the Internet on Radio Aire.

After that a friend of mine is coming round to watch some Egg Chasing (rugby) game. Apparently there is some big competition in the rugby world starting tomorrow – The 6 Nations or something. I’ve been told England are playing Wales.

If the Welsh rugby team are anything like the football team they will be full of morons (Craig Bellamy, Robbie Savage!) and be an easy win.

I’ve been assured it’ll be a tough match and interesting. We’ll wait and see on that, I’ve seen more interesting egg and spoon races than rugby games – not much difference between the two in my opinion.

The Six Nations of “Egg Chasing”

Still, good luck to England, win the country something, no other sports teams can! Jenston Button & David Beckham – I’m talking to you, just because you scored a penalty against Argentina it doesn’t mean you can pack it all in!

Finally in the evening I’m off to a work party at a social club in the hospital where I work. I’ve persuaded my rugby friend to go as long as I keep tipping drinks down his throat. Better than being on my own I suppose and if he drinks too much and needs his stomach pumped there’s always A&E around the corner.

I’m sure I’ll be back on tomorrow afternoon following the Leeds game, either moaning like a bitch if they lose or on a high if they win.

C’mon Leeds!
