This evening was the Christmas quiz at Bath City’s clubhouse, Charlie’s.

About 12 teams took part, made up of 4 to 6 members each, with a variety of knowledge and ranging from ages 18 to 80.

My 4-man team finished 4th overall, just missing out on the prizes of mince pies and bottles of Carlsberg.

Questions we were proud to get right included, ‘What is the capital of Turkey?’ with nearly every team, apart from us, choosing Istanbul. The answer is, of course, Ankara (although I didn’t know that!)

Controversy was rife after the question ‘What Christmas song did John Lennon perform with Yoko Ono?’ Apparently the answer Happy Christmas (War Is Over) was not good enough as the late Beatle abbreviated his song title to Happy Xmas (War Is Over).

There was confusion over the question ‘What was the name of the snowman in the song Winter Wonderland’ with our suggested answers ranging from Charlie Brown to Farmer Brown. We failed to get the correct name of Parson Brown.

I offered a fair contribution to my team, knowing that The Darkness sung ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)’, the kids’ carol telling the story of Mary and Joseph’s trip to Bethlehem is ‘Little Donkey’ and, most embarrassing, the Crimbo song on Susan Boyle’s album is ‘Silent Night’…. this was a pure guess (honest). I did NOT buy or even illegally download her album… and that wasn’t a hint for anyone to buy it for me.

  • About Me

So you stumbled across my blog. No doubt after searching for something bizarre on Google. Before you hit that 'Back Button', why not stay and have a read for a few minutes?

If you are after a website which gives advice on how to hack an iPhone X, download the latest Steven Seagal movie, or view nudy ladies, you've come to the wrong place and may now press 'Back'.

However, if you would like a lifestyle blog, written by a 30-something chap, living in Bath (England), feast your eyes on this.

You won't discover how to copy PlayStation 4 games. What you will find is a blog, covering life in the West Country, the highs and lows of supporting two unsuccessful football teams, while sharing a house with a wife and rabbit.

All written by a man, somewhere on the sanity-scale between normal and eccentric.
