I am not impressed AT ALL!

I left work early this afternoon to sign up for a mobile phone contract, complete with an iphone.

Anyone who has signed up for a mobile contract will know A LOT of checks are done before you are accepted into the ‘contract club’. Everything was going well – they verified me as a safe human being, and not a member of Al-qaeda. My current flat passed the test as a nice, well-kept home and not a crack den.

Then they wanted to know about my previous address. That’s when the problems started. Between February 2006 and February 2007, I lived in a shared house. Turns out some useless idiot I used to live with has been bad and blacklisted the address, and in turn my own, personal credit rating!

Until I clear my name, I am screwed. Unable to get loan. Unable to obtain a mortgage. Unable to get a mobile phone contract!

If I was at fault, I would accept the problem and deal with it, but I am 100% certain I am innocent. I have always paid my bills on time. I have never owned a credit card. I have an overdraft, but have maintained my finances so well, I have never used it!

After an evening of stress, I have some numbers to ring. I hope I get somewhere with this, because it simply isn’t fair how I should suffer like this because of a poorly organised credit-rating system, and a moron who isn’t able to maintain his/her own money.

After returning from the cinema, I watched the F1. I don’t really follow motorsport, but this was the final race of the season and had big importance… Lewis Hamilton, an ENGLISHMAN, might actually win something!

All Hammo had to do was finish 5th. A piece of piss if you consider the fact he had been dominating the drivers’ championship since March. Did I mention he was English? Obviously it wasn’t going to be that easy…

Lewis Hamilton – moments before victory

There Lewis was, cruising throughout the whole race, and then, with 3 laps to go, he messes up – something to do with the wrong tyres (I’m no F1 expert!).

Everyone thinks it’s all over and the bloke from Ferrari has won. Then, with the finish-line in sight, some German in front of Hamilton stops his car, allowing Lewis to overtake, finish 5th and win the championship. What great sportsmanship! It’s also very ironic that a German helped an Englishman win something.

The best thing about today’s race was watching the Ferrari team. One second they’re celebrating a win, then they realise what’s happened…

This weekend I made not one, but two trips to the cinema.

Saturday night, I went with John and Simon to Bristol. After visiting Nandos, we made our way to Showcase to watch Ghost Town.

Ghost Town stars Ricky Gervais who plays Bertram Pincus, a dentist, who, following an accident during a routine operation, is able to see dead people. This is no Sixth Sense, though – the only scary thing about this movie is the disturbing naked ghost.

Gervais’ character is a selfish, lonely man who has a strong dislike of his fellow human beings. It’s not until the ghosts start harassing him, asking him to fix their problems in the real world (Gervais is the only one who can interact with both humans and ghosts) that he changes his ways – oh, and a pretty girl comes along which influences his personality transformation (in a typical romcom manner).

I really liked this film. It had a lot of funny moments and had a nice, feel-good feeling. If you want a fun, warm film to watch on a cold autumn evening, watch this. If you want a horrible, unsettling movie, watch Saw V.

Today I went to watch the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.

QoS starts 20 minutes after the previous Bond film, Casino Royale, ended, with 007 having captured a baddie he shot in the leg. Cue a fast car chase through the Italian mountains and the infamous title sequence.

I wasn’t at all impressed with Casino Royale, although kept the faith in Daniel Craig, blaming a poor script as opposed to an inappropriate successor to Pierce Brosnan. I was right. QoS is far better. Craig did very well.

There is a lot less ‘chitty chat’ and a lot more of what Bond does best – chasing bad guys, blowing things up, shooting people and seducing anything of the opposite sex – yet still finding time to drink copious amounts of alcohol in between (and driving).

Don’t believe the movie critics or the Bond geeks who are boycotting the film. It may not be a classic, but QoS is the best modern day 007 movie since GoldenEye.

  • About Me

So you stumbled across my blog. No doubt after searching for something bizarre on Google. Before you hit that 'Back Button', why not stay and have a read for a few minutes?

If you are after a website which gives advice on how to hack an iPhone X, download the latest Steven Seagal movie, or view nudy ladies, you've come to the wrong place and may now press 'Back'.

However, if you would like a lifestyle blog, written by a 30-something chap, living in Bath (England), feast your eyes on this.

You won't discover how to copy PlayStation 4 games. What you will find is a blog, covering life in the West Country, the highs and lows of supporting two unsuccessful football teams, while sharing a house with a wife and rabbit.

All written by a man, somewhere on the sanity-scale between normal and eccentric.
